Working with closely with Universities
Following the success of Met Office Design Storm and our ongoing collaboration with D&AD, we continue to build links with Universities and Colleges. We’ve helped to mentor and inspire students, sharing our knowledge and showcasing exciting projects from across the office, as well as helping to inspire staff by showcasing the students creativity.
I’ve helped lead talks at the V&A as part of Digital Design Weekend, prepared sessions for MozFest, been involved in portfolio feedback sessions and given talks at Universities.
Design challenge
We set a data visualisation module for the BA (Hons) Graphic Communication with Typography course at Plymouth University. In a briefing session at their Plymouth studio I set a couple of challenges based on the presentation and communication of weather and climate data.
I then worked with the students over a number of weeks which culminated in a showcase of their work in their studio and then an exhibition of the work at the Met Office headquarters and a feature on the back of ‘Barometer’ magazine.
